Safety Instructions
1
Safety Instructions The service manual contains basic instructions which must be complied with when repair work is being carried out. Accordingly, the service technician must not fail to read this service manual before carrying out any repair work. It must be accessible at all times at the place where the machine is being operated. Moreover not only the general safety instructions listed in the section dealing with safety should be observed but also special safety instructions included in the other main sections.
1.1
Marking of Instructions in the Service Manual Those safety instructions included in this service manual which could lead to endangerment of persons if ignored are marked with the general danger symbol
safety symbol as per DIN 4844 - W9; where a warning is given concerning electrical power then
the safety symbol as per DIN 4844 - W8 is used. In the case of safety instructions where non-compliance could endanger the machine and its functions, the word
ATTENTION
has been added. Information affixed directly to the machine, such as Vers. (10/02)
m markings showing direction of rotation m markings for electrical and mechanical connections must never be ignored and must always be kept completely legible.

1.2
Personnel Qualifications and Training Personnel carrying out repair work on this equipment must possess the corresponding qualifications for this work. The owner must lay down precise rules regarding the area of responsibility, the duties and the supervision of the personnel. If the personnel are not in possession of the necessary skills then they should be trained and instructed in these. If necessary this can be done by the manufacturer or supplier at the owner’s request. In addition the owner must ensure that his personnel fully understand the contents of the service manual.
1.3
Risks Incurred if the Safety Instructions are not Observed Failure to observe the safety instructions may lead to both endangerment of persons as also of the environment and the machine. If you do not comply with safety instructions this can result in the loss of any claims for losses. In particular non-observance of safety instructions may bring with it the following potential hazards: m failure of major machine functions m failure of the methods prescribed for maintenance and repair m endangerment of persons by electrical, mechanical and thermal effects.
1.4
Safety First when Working The safety instructions drawn up in this service manual, existing national regulations concerning accident prevention, and any internal work, operational and safety regulations of the owner must all be observed.
1.5
Safety Instructions for the Service Technicians Potential endangerment from electrical power must be excluded (for details see for example VDE regulations and those of the local power supply authority).
1.6
Safety Instructions for Repair Work
Vers. (10/02)
The owner must ensure that all repair work is carried out by authorised and qualified technicians who have acquainted themselves in depth with the service manual. Work on the equipment will only be carried out when it has been shut down. Immediately after repair work is finished all safety and guard facilities must be replaced or reactivated.

Description of the Product
CAUTION Sections of the ROTOMIX carry hazardous voltages! Always switch off at the mains before carrying out any repairs. Observe the relevant safety precautions, VDE specifications and the ROTOMIX operating instructions. Follow the order of the individual repair steps exactly, to avoid injury and/or damage. Before starting up the appliance, ensure that the line voltage and frequency given on the rating plate agree with the line voltage available. The appliance should only be operated with a closed, undamaged protective cover, otherwise there is a danger of injury. The protective cover should only be opened after the capsule holder has come to a halt.
ROTOMIX is a mixing device for materials and cement for fillings in capsules. Unlike conventional capsule mixing devices it uses a rotary movement. This increases the efficiency of the mixing process and the paste is characterised by homogenous mixing. In addition, it is possible to centrifuge the mixed material in the rotary mixing process. Depending on the viscosity, this can reduce air bubbles in the material. For this reason, as well as the straight mixing operation, ROTOMIX offers an operating mode with 3 seconds of centrifugation after mixing. The centrifuging time of 3 seconds is not added to the mixing time on the display, the time shown always corresponds to the straight mixing time. ROTOMIX is equipped with four programme keys (P1-P4), which can be programmed to the most frequently used mixing and centrifuging times. In addition, via the keys “8” and “10”, two fixed mixing times can be selected.
Vers. (10/02)
Connect the ROTOMIX to the mains and switch on using the mains switch at the back of the device. Programme 1’s mixing time is shown on the display. To programme the basic adjustments, set the operating mode or the mixing time, and put in the capsule, refer to the ROTOMIX operating instructions.

Troubleshooting CAUTION Before starting up the ROTOMIX ensure that the mains voltage given on the back of the device agrees with the available voltage. mExternal fault checking Inspect the ROTOMIX for mechanical damage before fault checking Connect the ROTOMIX to the mains with the accompanying mains cable and switch on using the mains switch at the back of the device. As a starting control the time display shows 88, then jumps to the relevant set time P1. With the cover open, press the START button. The digital display should flash, the alarm sound and the sign blink. Close the cover and press the START button again. The motor should run and stall when the cover is opened. The mixing process is interrupted and the error message “Lo” appears. If the motor does not switch on and off when the cover is opened and closed, check the microswitch and change if necessary. m Fault location in accordance with following fault location diagram
Vers. (10/02)
CAUTION When testing with an open power supply unit, there are hazardous voltages in the area of the mains switch, microswitch, motor, the mains fuse and the mains transformer.
