AFOS VENTILATED WORKSTATION:
The Afos Ventilated workstation (V.W.S.) is designed to enable unrestricted dissection, staining and similar procedures to be carried out in complete safety meeting COSHH requirements. Flexibility of installation, even with existing benching together with a choice of work surface and sink configuration are features unique to the Afos design, affording maximum flexibility to meet every demand of the modern laboratory.
The V.W.S. unit is supported in a stainless steel frame, which is adjustable for levelling using adjustable feet. The V.W.S. comprises a plenum/sump containing remote operated sparge and fume extraction systems. The V.W.S is fitted with a removable a sink unit. Fitted to the table is a hot and cold-water mixer hand spray and sparge control valve and a cold wrist action tap. The hand spray extends the full length of the table for complete wash down and retracts when not in use. A perforated worktop is located above the plenum area and consists of two sections. Each section is removed independently to gain access to the sump, and when replaced they form a snug fit. A Sparge pipe is fitted within the plenum/sump and is remotely operated via the control valve located on the surround. The fume extraction duct is located to the rear of the sump, at the back of the perforated worktop. The standard wall fitted unit has one access panel fitted to the front of the under frame.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: When the workstation is in use ensure that the fume extraction system is operating correctly. Wash down: The sump sparge cleaning system should only be used for wash down at the end of the specimen trimming session. It must not be used when the workstation air extract system is operational.
When using the hand spray to wash down, always spray downwards. Before replacing the handset into the housing shake and remove all drips. When cleaning the sump, DO NOT spray water into the sump air extract duct. The sump sparge cleaning system is used to assist rapid cleaning AFTER procedures are completed.

Water and waste connections can be either permanently connected or coupled to flexible connections. Permanent wastes should be coupled to drainage traps.
Fit the rectangular duct into the discharge spigot to the rear of the unit and seal with a good quality silicone. Connect the free end to the extract system. The extract fan should be fitted with a flexible neoprene inlet sleeve to eliminate fan vibration transfer to the unit via the ductwork.
Connect the starter unit to the power supply and exhaust fan unit.
If supplied connect the airflow alarm system with pressure switch to the starter unit. The alarm box for the system should be connected and fitted adjacent to the starter unit.
The pressure switch should be mounted onto the side face of the outlet duct box with the diaphragm in the vertical plain and the nameplate in the upright position. Connect the 8mm (5/16") OD Nylon Air Tube to the LO Port. The HI Port must be free to atmosphere.
