Step 1

• Start with the instrument disassembled.

• Disable the ratchet by flipping the lever up. Ensure that the handle is fully open.

• Identify each of the three components: handle, shaft and insert.

Note: For ring handles (SP94 and SP95), remove thumb ring insert from thumb ring.

• Slide the insert into the shaft, aligning the slot feature at the working tip.

• Press and hold both assembly/release buttons on the rotation knob.

• Turn the insert clockwise until the insert alignment marker aligns with the white line near the Snowden-Pencer™ imprint on the shaft.

• Remove the shaft and insert assembly from the handle by pulling them away from the handle while keeping the buttons pressed until the shaft and insert assembly is completely detached from the handle.

Step 3 • Turn the rotation knob until the opening aligns with the electrosurgical post. • Disable the ratchet by flipping the ratchet lever up. • Fully open the handle.

Step 3 • Turn the insert counterclockwise from the shaft.

Step 4 • Press and hold both assembly/release buttons on the rotation knob. • With both buttons engaged, slide the assembled shaft and insert into the rotation knob opening until the flush port is slightly seated in the handle.

Step 4 • Remove the insert from the shaft by pulling it straight out.

• Remove fingers from assembly/release buttons and fully insert the shaft until an audible click is heard. • Actuate the handle to complete assembly and verify that the jaws open and close. Note: When proper assembly is achieved, the assembly/release buttons will return to initial position and the jaws will open.

Troubleshooting • Ensure the handle is completely open when assembling or disassembling the instrument. • Properly lubricate the instrument before sterilizing to help ensure proper function and longevity.
