Doctor Down® Equipment List T h e Rescue Wrap® system from Doctor Down® is a versatile durable patient bedding. The Rescue Wrap® offers the best patient/personnel protection on the market. •

RESCUE WRAP® The Rescue Wrap® is the best all-weather emergency wrap designed for medical transport. The orange shell makes it highly visible where traffic or security issues are critical. Carry handles aid in rapid transport of patient. The Rescue Wrap® can quickly adjust to accommodate patients from 40 lbs. to 350 lbs. It closes to the upper side of the bag for fast and easy 360° access.

RESCUE WRAP® RANGER™ - The Rescue Wrap® Ranger™ meets the specific needs of specialized trauma teams. It offers maximum protection when wet weather or helicopter down-draft is a factor by closing to the underside. The black shell and carry handles make it desirable for military operations where quick-response and security issues are critical. The patented system addresses the challenge of providing comfort, easy unlimited patient access and environmental protection for the patient and provider. It is durable, versatile, and washable.

THE HOSS (THE Hypothermia Offshore Survival System) is the same design as the Ranger™, closing to the underside, but with high visibility emergency orange in color. Designed to offer maximum weather protection in cold, wet environments or during water rescue.

BODY BURRITO- the Body Burrito is a unique approach to emergency transport bedding. It provides a protective environment similar to that of the Rescue Wrap® by using a high performance, all-weather shell that is waterproof, wind-proof, and breathable. The difference between the Body Burrito and the Rescue Wrap® is the high-thermal fleece lining and the design. The patient is secured into the protective Body Burrito by using a fast and easy wrap 'n' buckle closure. The Body Burrito will coordinate with a cascade toboggan, rescue basket, litter, or stretcher to enhance the use of your current equipment. Use Disposable Liners for the fastest turn-around time and management of infection control issues for patients and personnel. The Body Burrito is completely washable.

RESCUE WRAP® JUNIOR offers the same three-part system as the Rescue Wrap® with 360° access but is specifically designed for children.

RESCUE WRAP® Jr. B (Baby) is designed for pint size patients offering the same three-part design as the Rescue Wrap® Junior.

EQUIPMENT USE Rescue Wrap®, Rescue Wrap® Ranger™ and The H.O.S.S. Patient Loading 1. Unsnap side release buckles of wrap straps, unroll and unfold the Rescue Wrap® with handles on the bottom. 2. Start at head end, un-velcro and roll down top layer leaving bottom layer exposed and velcro connected at foot end. 3. Position patient on the fluid proof disposable liner on the bottom layer. 4. Roll top layer back up and over the patient, sealing the velcro side strips of the bedding. ™ Rescue Wrap® only: The parallel velcro strips allow for width adjustment according to patient size. For greater heat retention fold top corners down, attach side-release buckles and snug down with web straps (refer to pg. 8 for visual of special features). An additional strap and side-release buckle is located at the foot of the bag, streamlining the foot area to provide a compact package. This feature was designed in collaboration with our helicopter EMS agencies. ™ Patient Warming - Reusable Charged Heat Packs can be inserted into two pockets that are located inside the top layer of the Rescue Wrap® to provide the longest warming advantage for the patient. Patient Unloading 1. Separate side velcro strips of Rescue Wrap® and detach bottom disposable liner from the head of the Rescue Wrap®. 2. Roll Rescue Wrap® layer down to uncover the foot area and detach disposable liner from the foot of the bedding. 3. Detach the corners of the bottom liner. Do not assume the bottom sheet will carry the weight of the patient. Unload patient. 4. Inspect Doctor Down® equipment thoroughly for contamination. Triage - keep four people warm. Pull the system layers apart. Top layer and bottom layer can be used to shoulder drape two people per layer. A patient on a back board easily fits inside Doctor Down® equipment.

Body Burrito

Patient Loading 1. Unsnap side release buckles of wrap straps; unroll the Body Burrito with handles on the bottom. 2. Unsnap wrap 'n' buckle closure system. 3. Lay open both sides of Body Burrito and disposable fluid-proof, absorbent tissue liner. 4. Position patient on the liner in the center of the bag. 5. Fold liner and sides of Body Burrito back over patient. 6. Secure patient into Body Burrito using the wrap 'n' buckle closures. Patient Warming - Reusable Charged Heat Packs can be inserted into a large pocket that is located on the inside fold of the Body Burrito (see photo below) to provide the longest warming advantage for the patient.

Infection Management Disposable Liners Disposable liners serve as a fluid-proof, sanitary, inner liner between patient and Rescue Wrap® shells. The disposable liner should be replaced after every use. DISPOSABLE LINER REPLACEMENT - assume bag is fully open. Bottom Liner - fluid-proof poly back with absorbent tissue layer 1. The absorbent layer will contact patient’s back. 2. Attach velcro tabs at foot end of disposable liner to velcro tabs on internal bottom layer of bag. 3. Fold the head of the disposable liner over the head of the bag and attach velcro tabs on underside of bag.

Top Liner - Fluid repellent, breathable layer (Put top liner in place before positioning top shell to bottom shell.)

1. Attach velcro tabs at foot end of disposable liner to velcro tabs on internal top shell. 2. Position top liner in place on the bag, and then pull the top shell into position over the top liner. 3. Fold the head of the disposable liner over the head of the top shell attaching velcro tabs. 4. Seal bag using velcro tracks. RE-ROLL AND STORE 1. With carry wrap straps on the underside, fold bag (with new liners in place) in half lengthwise. 2. Roll bag from the head toward the foot. The tighter the roll the more compact the bag. Fasten the side release buckles on the wrap straps then snug up the ends to secure the rolled Rescue Wrap®. STORE IN Wrap Sack IN A CLEAN-DRY AREA.

Insulation Cores SYNTHETIC OR NATURAL DOWN CORES REMOVAL AND INSERTION Down cores fit into each shell layer of Rescue Wrap® like a pillow into a pillow case. Remove cores 1. 2. 3.

Separate the top and bottom of the Rescue Wrap® Open the velcro closure at the foot of the shell. Reach inside and detach the down core at each corner. Pull the down core out and repeat for the other layer.

Inserting Multiple Down Cores (Stacking) (Multiple down cores may be stacked within a shell) 1. Determine the number of down cores needed using the chart below. 2. Insert multiple down cores into shell per above insertion procedures. NOTE: When using Doctor Down® Rescue Wrap® equipment in temperatures above 60°F (15.6°C) remove the core from the top shell and stack it on the core in the bottom shell. *This offers more cushion for the patient on the underside and keeps the core available to reinsert in the top shell for cold patients.

Accessories

INSULATED HOOD The fleece lined hood is an optional accessory that attaches to the top of the Rescue Wrap® equipment. Designed to protect the head and shoulders of the patient, the hood is constructed of a wind-proof, weather-proof breathable shell with a 200 weight fleece lining. Available in orange or black shell.

IV WARM WRAP The IV Warm Wrap folds in from the sides around 1000 ml or 500 ml IV bags to form a warm chamber. The shell is wind-proof and fluid-proof with synthetic down insulation and is heated by inserting 4 x 4" reusable heat packs into strategically located pockets inside the Warm Wrap. The Warm Wrap is long enough to enclose the IV line drip chamber, keeping the fluid protected before entering the IV line. Bottom midline corners velcro open for clear visibility of the IV drip chamber. The IV line is insulated with a split, closed cell foam tube (outside diameter 1", inside .250"). The IV line insulator is 68" long and can be shortened as needed.

HEAT PACKS These reusable heat packs contain sodium acetate-a foodgrade salt. By flexing the disk inside the heat pack, it causes a single crystal of the salt to form. This creates a chain reaction, causing the entire contents of the pack to change from a liquid to a crystal. This chemical reaction creates heat (approx. 130°F or 54°C). Once triggered, place the heat pack in the pockets of the Rescue Wrap® system to provide extra hypothermia resistance for your patients. Two sizes available 4 x 4 and 8 x 8.

Husky Panel When weather restricts removal of heavy clothing or you just need that extra space, the Rescue Wrap® Husky Panels expand the Rescue Wrap® for best transport results. ƒ ƒ ƒ

The Husky Panel expands the original Rescue Wrap® circumference from 77" to 97". Fluid-proof, wind-proof, breathable shell with removable insulation cores. Washable.

RESCUE WRAP® LINERS Slap Wrap™ Disposable Liners are an integral part of the unique self-contained Rescue Wrap® system. They provide an extremely effective way of dealing with infection control and cross-contamination issues, labor intensive clean-up, and laundering costs. They also provide quick and easy turn around time for emergency crews. All liners velcro into place and include a breathable fluid-repellant top liner. The fluid-proof bottom liners have an absorbent tissue layer and are available in two different weights: Liners 1 & 2 fit the Rescue Wrap®, Rescue Wrap® Ranger, and THE H.O.S.S. 1. Regular Disposable Liner Set - Lightest in physical weight and durability. 2. Industrial Disposable Liner Set - Surgical trauma drape, strong enough to transfer most patients, heaviest in physical weight and durability. 3. Body Burrito Disposable Liner - Fluid-proof with absorbent tissue liner. 4. Junior Disposable Liner Set - Fluid-proof with absorbent tissue liner. 5. Jr. B (Baby) Disposable Liner - Fluid-proof with absorbent tissue liner.

CLEANING AND CARE RECOMMENDATIONS Launder Shells as directed for best wear performance 1. Separate top & bottom layers. Remove disposable liners and insulation cores. 2. Front loading washer recommended. Use a Permanent press setting on machine with warm water and mild detergent. Only non-chlorine bleach when needed. No fabric softeners. For best performance, rinse twice thoroughly with cold water to remove excess detergent. Restore water repellency periodically with wash-in waterproofing available at Doctor Down®. 3. For best results tumble dry on low heat using the following procedure: Turn shell inside out. Tumble dry 30 min. Turn shell right side out. Tumble dry 30 min. Avoid exposure to intense heat. 4. Laundering Synthetic or Natural Down Core 1. Wash cores after removing from shell. 2. Recommend front loading commercial washer. Wash and rinse synthetic down in cold water, gentle cycle with mild detergent. Wash and rinse natural down in cold water, gentle cycle with non-detergent soap or Down Suds. Tumble dry on low heat with tennis balls to restore the loftiness of the down. Avoid excessive heat. DO NOT DRY CLEAN, BLEACH, IRON OR STEAM. 3. IMPORTANT! Make sure cores are completely dry before reloading into Rescue Wrap®, storing or folding. Velcro Maintenance Velcro loop does not generally need cleaning however velcro hook tends to trap foreign matter loosing its ability to attach to the velcro loop. Eliminating this foreign material by using the following method will allow your velcro to continue working properly. 1. Brush foreign material from velcro hook using a small rigid brush (available at most hardware stores) OR a small pet grooming brush that is at least a medium weight. 2. Apply duct tape pressing deeply into hook then rip away to pull out loosened foreign material. Maintenance and Repair Service at Doctor Down Factory We offer maintenance and repair service for Doctor Down® equipment. We can clean and repair the shell and repair or replace straps and buckles etc. **Suggestion: If a quick temporary repair is needed, rip-stop nylon adhesive tape can be used. (rip-stop will wash away) (Here at the factory we re-enforce the rip-stop with stitching and then seam seal.)
