96216309 E E Reference sheet for preparation of autoclavable camera heads Note: This reference sheet is not intended to replace the respective section in the unit’s instruction manual. The table ‘Preparation overview’ shows all the possible preparation methods in table form. A short introduction is given to the methods which are only suitable for autoclavable camera heads (machine cleaning and steam sterilization). General care instructions (manual precleaning...) should be taken from the respective instruction manual. Preparation overview KARL STORZ camera heads (autoclavable) 20 2120 40, 20 2121 40, 20 2210 40, 20 2211 40, 22 2100 40-3, 22 2101 40-3, 22 2200 40-3, 22 2201 40-3 Chemical Gas Steam Machine cleaning/disinfection If possible, thermal cleaning disinfection should be carried out by machine, followed by steam sterilization at 134°C. The following must be observed: • The camera heads should be placed in holding devices to prevent damage. • We advise against the use of lubricants in the machines. • Use a cleaning/disinfecting agent approved by KARL STORZ for cleaning/disinfection (see Appendix to the instruction manual). Enzymatic, neutral cleaners should be used where possible. Warning: The choice of rinsing programs must be agreed with the machine manufacturer. Usually, special programs are available for endoscopic instrument sets, which are suitable for cleaning and which are gentle on materials. For machine cleaning, make sure that the autoclavable camera heads are not heated above 93°C. Warning: Before the camera heads are placed in the machine, all parts should be pretreated manually as described in the cleaning instructions, irrespective of whether they have been used or not. Warning: The machine must fulfill all the demands made of it in terms of process validation, cleaning performance, disinfection and material compatibility. ® STERIS STERRAD 100S* FO EO Remark 134°C, fractionated Thermal disinfection 93°C Washer and disinfector Manual VAH list Product Plasma Sterilization Cleaning/Sterilization Pay attention to the list of approved chemicals when carrying out cleaning and disinfection. Note: The use of enzymatic cleaners is recommended to avoid possible cosmetic changes to the surface of the camera head. *Note: KARL STORZ video cameras are (at the last known status, March 2008) not STERRAD NX compatible. Warning: Make sure that the ambient conditions concerning the maximum temperature (93°C, ± 5%) are adhered to. Warning: It is not recommended to change between manual and automatic preparation. Caution: Check the camera head and cable for external damage before every case of cleaning in semi- and fully automatic machines. Lay the camera head carefully in the tray of the machine. Use a rinsing program for endoscopic instrument sets, following the machine manufacturer’s instructions. Caution: Once the program has ended, remove the camera head from the machine as quickly as possible. Caution: After machine preparation, clean the distal lens, the eyepiece and the camera connector with a lens cleaner or a cotton tip applicator soaked in 70% isopropyl alcohol. When cleaning the distal lens, always wipe with a circular movement. Note: Cleaning/disinfection should be followed by a final rinse with sterile or sterile-filtered water.
