Caution: For the production and application of solutions, precisely observe the information from the chemical manufacturer regarding concentration and exposure times. A maximum immersion time of 60 minutes must not be exceeded. Prolonged immersion can lead to corrosion and/or material damage.

Advertencia: Durante la preparación y aplicación de soluciones, deben observarse con la mayor exactitud las indicaciones del fabricante del producto químico en cuanto a concentración y tiempo de aplicación. No debe superarse un tiempo máximo de inmersión de 60 minutos. Una inmersión demasiado prolongada puede provocar corrosión/deterioro del material.

Vorsicht: Der ständige Wechsel zwischen verschiedenen Aufbereitungsverfahren bedeutet eine besondere Belastung der Materialien und ist daher zu vermeiden. Eine einmalige Verfahrensänderung, z.B. durch Neuanschaffung von Geräten, ist jedoch möglich.

Caution: Constant change between various preparation methods is especially hard on the materials and must therefore be avoided. A one-time change of method, due to procurement of new cleaning and sterilization equipment for example, is however possible.

Warnung: Batterien, Batteriecontainer und Akkus dürfen keinen hohen Temperaturen ausgesetzt werden bzw. nicht maschinell aufbereitet oder dampfsterilisiert (autoklaviert) werden! Warnung: Dieses Instrument wird nicht steril ausgeliefert und muss somit vor der ersten Anwendung sowie vor jeder weiteren Nutzung gereinigt, desinfiziert, ggf. sterilisiert werden. Warnung: Den einwandfreien Zustand des Instrumentes vor jeder Anwendung sicherstellen! Bei Anzeichen von Beschädigungen darf das Instrument keinesfalls weiterverwendet werden! Note: Do not look directly into the light beam. Warning: Danger of explosion! The handle and induction battery charger are not suitable for use in potentially explosive areas. Warning: Batteries, battery containers and rechargeable batteries must not be subjected to high temperatures, prepared by machine or steam sterilized (autoclaved)! Warning: This instrument is delivered unsterilized and must therefore be cleaned, disinfected and/or sterilized prior to initial use and each subsequent reuse. Warning: Ensure that the instruments are in good working order before each use! If there is any indication of damage, the instrument must not be used further under any circumstances! Warning: Risk of infection to the patient: Check the instrument for any visible signs of soiling (e.g. blood, tissue remnants), which may indicate that the preparation was either not carried out or was performed incorrectly. Repetition of the preparation process may be necessary. Warning: For safety reasons, the rechargeable battery (typical service life approx. 1,000 charging cycles) may only be changed by service personnel authorized by KARL STORZ. Further information is available from Service (Tel.: +49(0)7461 708-490/ Fax: +49(0)7461 708-404) Caution: Protect the LED Li-Ion rechargeable battery from mechanical damage (e.g. from being dropped). The glass lens could fragment or parts of the lamp could be damaged. Note: When the battery is fully charged, the unit can be operated at optimal brightness for approx. 240 minutes with the Li-Ion rechargeable battery and for 120 minutes with the NiCd rechargeable battery. As soon as performance decreases, recharge the battery.

Vorsicht: Batterien, Batteriecontainer und Akkueinsatz niemals mit Wasser oder wässriger Lösung reinigen; Kontaktstellen vor Feuchtigkeit schützen. Vorsicht: Bei Tiefentladung können Batterien und Akkus auslaufen und dadurch die Handgriffhülse beschädigen. Deshalb bei längerem Nichtgebrauch Batteriecontainer bzw. Akkueinsatz aus der Handgriffhülse herausnehmen. Vorsicht: Der Akkueinsatz enthält Sinter-Bauteile! Stoßeinwirkung und mechanische Belastung vermeiden. Warnung: Die Hinweise zur Reinigung und Sterilisation in der Anleitung „Reinigung, Sterilisation und Pflege von KARL STORZ Instrumenten“ müssen beachtet werden. Dort sind die Verfahren zur Reinigung, Desinfektion und Sterilisation im Detail erklärt. Vorsicht: Von KARL STORZ empfohlene und freigegebene Mittel siehe Anleitung „Reinigung, Sterilisation und Pflege von KARL STORZ Instrumenten“. Die Herstellerangaben über Konzentration und Einwirkzeit sind genauestens zu beachten.

Caution: Never clean the batteries, battery container, or rechargeable battery insert with water or a solution containing water; protect contacts against moisture. Caution: If batteries become totally discharged they may leak and thus damage the handle sleeve. For this reason, if they are not used for any length of time remove the battery container or rechargeable battery insert from the handle sleeve. Caution: The rechargeable battery insert contains sintered components. Avoid impacts and mechanical loads. Warning: The instructions for cleaning and sterilization in the manual ‘Cleaning, sterilization and care of KARL STORZ instruments’ must be observed. There the methods for cleaning, disinfection and sterilization are explained in detail. Caution: For materials recommended and approved by KARL STORZ see ‘Cleaning, sterilization and care of KARL STORZ instruments’. The manufacturer’s instructions regarding concentration and exposure time are to be followed exactly.

Vorsicht: Batterien und Akkueinsatz niemals mit Wasser oder wässriger Lösung reinigen. Vorsicht: Keine Metallbürsten verwenden, um Kratzer auf der Oberfläche zu vermeiden. Mit der Aufbereitung eingesetzter Instrumente so bald wie möglich beginnen, da Inkrustierungen irreparable Schäden verursachen können. Grobverschmutzungen mit einem befeuchteten (keine alkoholischen Konzentrate) Einmaltuch oder mit einer weichen, desinfizierten Bürste entfernen. Danach gründlich mit Wasser abspülen. Warnung: Lampe kann heiß sein, abkühlen lassen. 15

Caution: Never clean batteries or the rechargeable battery insert with water or a solution containing water. Caution: Never use metal brushes or else the surface will be scratched. Begin preparing instruments for use as soon as possible because any incrustations can cause irreparable damage. Remove heavy soiling with a moistened (no solutions predominantly containing alcohol) disposable cloth or with a soft, disinfected brush. Then rinse thoroughly with water.

Warning: The lamp may be hot, allow it to cool down.

Prüfen, ob die Batterien bzw. Akkueinsatz in gutem Zustand sind: leere, auslaufende oder beschädigte Batterien wechseln; im Zweifelsfall austauschen. Dabei die Polarität beachten (siehe Batteriesymbol auf dem Batterieeinsatz sowie auf der Batterie). Beim kleinen Handgriff den Deckel wieder aufsetzen und fest drehen. Prüfen, ob die Lampe fest in der Fassung sitzt, ggf. nachziehen. Batteriecontainer oder Akkueinsatz in die Handgriffhülse eindrehen. Laryngoskopspatel aufsetzen und Funktion testen.

Check whether the batteries or rechargeable battery insert are in good condition: replace batteries which are empty, leaking or damaged; if in doubt, replace. While doing so, make sure to observe the polarity (see battery symbol both on the battery holder and on the battery). Fit the cover back onto the small handle and twist tightly. Check whether the lamp is firmly in its holder and tighten up if necessary. Screw the battery container or rechargeable battery insert into the handle sleeve. Fit the laryngoscope blade and check operation.

Compruebe si las pilas o el suplemento acumulador están en buen estado: cambie las que estén vacías, con fugas o deterioradas; en caso de duda, cámbielas. Para ello, respete la polaridad (véase el símbolo de las pilas tanto en el compartimento de las pilas como en las propias pilas). En el caso del mango pequeño, vuelva a montar la tapa y ciérrela girándola. Compruebe que la lámpara esté bien fija en el zócalo. Dado el caso, tire de ella. Introduzca girando el contenedor para pilas o el suplemento acumulador en el casquillo del mango. Monte la espátula para laringoscopio y realice una prueba de funcionamiento.

Bei Ersatzbeschaffung von Verbrauchsteilen wie Lampe, Akkueinsatz usw. Originalteile verwenden. Diese Teile sind ab Lager lieferbar. Der Einbau von Fremdteilen kann zu Funktionsstörungen führen, für die KARL STORZ nicht haftet.

When replacing nonrepairable parts such as the lamp, rechargeable battery insert etc. always use genuine parts. The parts are available from stock. If other makes of parts are fitted, this may cause malfunctions for which KARL STORZ accepts no liability.

Al adquirir repuestos para piezas de desgaste tales como lámpara, suplemento acumulador, etc., utilice piezas originales. Estas piezas son suministrables de almacén. El montaje de piezas ajenas puede provocar fallos de funcionamiento, de los que KARL STORZ no se responsabiliza.

Batteries Unscrew the battery container from the handle sleeve. Always replace both batteries: remove batteries and insert new batteries observing the correct polarity. Insert the battery container into the handle sleeve. Fit the laryngoscope blade and check operation. Dispose of old batteries in an environmentally friendly way. Note: Either regular or rechargeable batteries can be used for the short handle (8548 LD). Rechargeable batteries have a shorter battery life. Note: Do not attach any labels to the batteries for the small handle as this may cause them to stick. Note: In the case of the short handle (8548), a recurrent blinking indicates that the battery requires changing approx. 10 minutes before it expires.
