WARNING: Grounding reliability can only be achieved when the equipment is connected to a properly installed “Hospital Only” or “Hospital Grade” receptacle (i.e., approved for use in an operating room environment). Routinely inspect electrical plug and cord. Do not use if inspection reveals damage. WARNING: To avoid risk of electric shock, this equipment must only be connected to a supply mains with protective earth. WARNING: Test this equipment prior to each surgical procedure to ensure that it functions correctly. WARNING: Danger of explosion if used in the presence of ƃammable anesthetics, ƃammable liquids, ƃammable vapors, ƃammable gases (Example: Oxygen rich environment) or dusts. WARNING: Always unplug the unit before doing any maintenance work on it (e.g. cleaning). WARNING: Risk of burns. Lamp and heat sink may be hot. Avoid bodily contact with the lamp until it has cooled sufƂciently. Parts of the lamp can reach very high temperatures which cause serious burns if touched. WARNING: Danger of electric shock. Do not open the unit. Refer servicing only to qualiƂed personnel. Any opening of the unit by unauthorized persons voids the guarantee. CAUTION: Always adjust the cold light fountain to the minimum illumination intensity necessary to achieve optimum illumination of the endoscopic scene, either by direct vision or when coupled to a video camera. CAUTION: Do not store liquids on or above the unit. Avoid allowing ƃuids to enter the unit.

Das Gerät ist mit einer Steckvorrichtung 햸 für den Potenzialausgleich ausgerüstet. Lassen Sie die Erdung ggf. durch sachkundiges Personal durchführen.

The unit is equipped with a connector 햸 for attaching an equipotential wire (redundant grounding wire) line. The unit’s equipotential line should be installed by a qualiƂed electrician.

Plug the light cable into socket 햶 as far as it will go. To disconnect the light cable pull on the connector, never on the cable itself. WARNING: Danger of glare. Never look into the open end of a light cable. WARNING: Danger of burns. Contact with the open end of a light cable connected to a cold light fountain can possibly lead to burns.

Connect the light cable to the endoscope by a quarter turn of the knurled collar.

The light outlet point 햶 can be unscrewed if necessary and replaced by adapters for light cables from other manufacturers (see KARL|STORZ catalog TELEPRESENCE). WARNING: Danger of glare! Do not operate the light source without a|light cable adapter.

Brightness can be adjusted with the brightness control knob 햴. NOTE: If the cold light fountain is switched on and off frequently, this increases wear to the xenon lamp. Therefore, during short interruptions, brightness should be reduced on the unit.

La intensidad de la luz puede ser modiƂcada con el regulador 햴. NOTA: La repitida conexión y desconexión de la fuente de luz fría conduce a un progresivo desgaste de la lámpara XENON. Die Kaltlicht-Fontäne XENON|NOVAr|175 hat einen internen Betriebsstundenzähler. Bei einer Betriebsstundenzahl > 450 leuchtet die Kontroll-Leuchte Lampenwechsel 햳 rot. Bei einer Betriebsstundenzahl von > 500 blinkt sie. Die Lampe muss dann ersetzt werden (siehe Lampenwechsel Seite 12). VORSICHT: Die Betriebsdauer der Lampe sollte aus Sicherheitsgründen nicht über 500 Stunden liegen.

The XENON|NOVAr|175 cold light fountain has an internal service hour counter. When the operating hours exceed 450, the lamp change light 햳 glows red. If the operating hours exceed 500, the lamp change light 햳 ƃashes. The lamp must then be changed (see Lamp Replacement on page 12). CAUTION: For safety reasons the operating time of the lamp should not exceed 500|hours.

La fuente de luz fría XENON|NOVAr|175 dispone de un contador interno de las horas de servicio. Con un número de horas de servicio superior a 450, la lámpara de control que indica el cambio de lámpara 햳 se ilumina en rojo. Con un número de horas de servicio superior a 500, la lámpara de control se enciende intermitentemente, indicando el cambio de la lámpara 햳. Die Verwendung von Wärmeleitpaste gewährleistet, dass die Lampe direkten Kontakt mit dem Kühlkörper hat. VORSICHT: Die Wärmeleitpaste sehr sparsam verwenden. Zuviel Wärmeleitpaste kann die Lebensdauer der Lampe verkürzen und zu Zündschwierigkeiten führen. Die Wärmeleitpaste dünn mit einem Wattestäbchen auf alle Stellen auftragen, wo die Lampe mit dem Kühlkörper in Kontakt kommt.

To ensure that the lamp has direct contact with the heat sink, it is necessary to use thermal compound.

La utilización de pasta conductora del calor garantiza el contacto directo de la lámpara con el disipador de calor. ADVERTENCIA: Utilice sólo poca cantidad de pasta conductora del calor. Una cantidad excesiva de pasta puede disminuir la vida útil de la lámpara y causar diƂcultades en el encendido. CAUTION: The application of the thermal compound must be very sparing. Too much thermal compound can cause shortened lamp life and ignition problems. Using a cotton-tipped applicator, apply a thin Ƃlm of thermal compound to all the points where the lamp comes into contact with the heat sink.

VORSICHT: Nur die von KARL|STORZ empfohlene Original-Ersatzlampe 20 132026 verwenden. Die neue Lampe nicht mit bloßen Fingern berühren. Handschuhe oder Tuch benutzen. CAUTION: Only use the genuine replacement lamp 20 1320 26 recommended by KARL|STORZ. Do not touch the new lamp with bare Ƃngers; use gloves or a cloth or tissue to handle the lamp. Touching the lamp with bare Ƃngers may result in operational problems. Insert new lamp into the bottom halves of the heat sink. Fit the upper halves of the heat sink and tighten the thumbscrews by hand uniformly.

Slide the cover of the unit back on and turn the unit over. Screw the screws back into the bottom of the unit. Reconnect power supply. Test the instrument for proper operation.
