The device 27 7501 20-1 contains the KARL STORZ-SCB® interface (KARL STORZ Communication Bus). The SCB interface, which is based on the CAN field bus, makes it possible to control unit functions and display unit parameters remotely.

Das Gerät verfügt über Selbsttest-Routinen, die das System laufend überwachen. Wenn eine Fehlerbedingung entdeckt wird: • wird auf den LED-Anzeigen eine Fehlermeldung ausgegeben (z.B. E 05 – Fernunterbrechung aktiv) • wird ein Warnton ausgegeben • wird die Laserstrahlung des Systems gestoppt oder reduziert, um die Sicherheit für den Anwender und den Patienten zu gewährleisten und eine Beschädigung des Gerätes zu verhindern.

The unit is equipped with a self-check routine that continuously monitors system operation. If a fault condition is detected: • The LED displays issue a fault message (e.g. E 05 – remote interlock active) • The audible indicator emits an alarm signal. • The system ceases or reduces laser emission to ensure user and patient safety and to prevent damage to the unit.

El aparato dispone de rutinas de autochequeo que controlan continuamente el sistema. Den CALCULASE auf ebener Fläche freistehend aufstellen (besonders geeignet für einen KARL STORZ Gerätewagen) Hinweis: Der CALCULASE darf nur in med. genutzten Räumen benutzt werden, die nach der national gültigen Vorschrift für die Laseranwendung installiert sind.

Set up the CALCULASE on a flat surface as a free-standing unit (ideal for a KARL STORZ equipment trolley). Note: The CALCULASE may only be used in medical environments set up in accordance with applicable national regulations for laser use.

Coloque el CALCULASE independientemente sobre una superficie plana (particularmente adecuado para una unidad móvil de KARL STORZ). Nota: El CALCULASE sólo podrá usarse en espacios médicos que hayan sido instalados de acuerdo con las normas nacionales vigentes para aplicación de láser.

The CALCULASE is equipped with a connector for attaching a ground line. The ground line should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Only operate the CALCULASE at the line voltage stated on the manufacturer’s identification plate. Connect up the power cord and insert power cord connector fully into the power socket.

After inserting the power cord connector, turn on the main switch. The main switch has a two-pole automatic circuit breaker. This can be reset after it has been tripped due to a current overload.

Zur zusätzlichen Sicherheit ist der CALCULASE mit einer Anschlussmöglichkeit für eine Fernunterbrechung der Laserstrahlung ausgestattet. Über diesen Anschluss wird ein externer Schalter angeschlossen, der eine Fernunterbrechung ermöglicht. Der externe Schalter wird z. B. an der Eingangstür zum Operationssaal angeschlossen, so dass beim Öffnen der Tür der Laserstrahl unterbrochen, das Gerät in den StandbyModus zurückgesetzt und die Fehlermeldung E 05 ausgegeben wird. Um den Betrieb wieder aufzunehmen, muss der externe Schaltkontakt geschlossen und anschließend das Gerät erneut in den Bereit-Zustand (grüne LED leuchtet) geschaltet werden. Statt dem Schalter kann die Fernunterbrechungsbrücke (27 7501 26) eingesteckt werden.

For added protection the CALCULASE is equipped with a connection for remotely interrupting laser emissions. An external switch is connected to this outlet, which enables remote interlocking. The external switch is connected e.g. to the door of the operating room, so that when the door opens the laser beam is interrupted, the unit returns to standby mode and the error message E 05 is output. To resume operation, the external switch contact must be closed and then the unit turned to ready mode once again (green LED lights up). The remote interlock jumper (27 7501 26) can be inserted instead of the switch.

Para mayor seguridad, el CALCULASE está equipado con una opción de conexión para interrupción a distancia de la radiación láser. A través de esta conexión se conecta un interruptor externo que permite una interrupción a distancia. Hinweis: Um ein versehentliches Herausziehen des SCB-Verbindungskabels zu verhindern, besitzt der SCB-Stecker eine Schutzvorrichtung. Die Schutzvorrichtung des SCB-Steckers zurückziehen und den Stecker in einer der SCBBuchsen einstecken. Das andere Ende des Kabels mit einem KARL STORZ-SCB-Steuergerät (KARL STORZ Communication Bus) oder weiteren SCB-Geräten verbinden (siehe hierzu Gebrauchsanweisung KARL STORZ-SCB® System)

Note: To prevent the SCB connecting cable from being inadvertently pulled out, the SCB connector has a safety device. Pull back the safety device on the SCB connector and insert the connector into one of the sockets. Connect the other end of the cable to a KARL STORZ SCB control unit (KARL STORZ Communication Bus) or other SCB devices (see the instruction manual for the KARL STORZSCB® System in relation to this).

Nota: Con el fin de evitar una extracción involuntaria del cable de conexión SCB, el enchufe SCB posee un dispositivo protector. Um den Laserbetrieb aufzunehmen, muss der Not-Aus-Schalter durch eine Drehbewegung entriegelt werden. Im Notfall den Not-Aus-Schalter betätigen; der Laser wird sofort abgeschaltet. Zur Wiederinbetriebnahme, muss der Schalter entriegelt werden

To begin laser operation the emergency stop switch must be unlocked by turning it. Push the emergency stop switch in an emergency; the laser is switched off instantly. To resume operation the switch must be unlocked.

Hinweis: Der Not-Aus-Schalter muss beim Erstbetrieb nicht zwangsläufig gedrückt sein. Um ihn zu entriegeln, ist dies mit einer Drehbewegung des Schalters zu tun. Warnung: Zum regulären Herunterfahren des Systems muss der Schlüsselschalter und der Netzschalter benutzt werden. Durch Drücken des NOT-AUS-Schalters stoppt die Laseremission sofort. Ein Abschalten des Systems über den NOT-AUS ist eine „Fehlbedienung“ und muss vermieden werden. Sollte der NOT-AUS-Schalter gedrückt worden sein, muss er vor dem nächsten Neustart durch Drehbewegung entriegelt werden.

Note: The emergency stop switch does not necessarily have to be pushed in when operating the unit for the first time. To unlock it, turn the switch. Warning: For normal system shutdown the keyswitch and the main power switch must be used. Pushing in the EMERGENCY STOP switch stops laser emission instantly. Shutting down the system using the EMERGENCY STOP switch constitutes an operating error and must be avoided. If the EMERGENCY STOP switch has been pushed in, it must be unlocked before the unit is started up again. To do so, turn the switch.

Con el fin de iniciar el servicio del láser se debe desbloquear el interruptor de emergencia con un movimiento giratorio. En caso de emergencia, accione el interruptor de emergencia; el láser se desconecta inmediatamente. Para volver a ponerlo en servicio se debe desbloquear el interruptor. Nota: En la primera puesta en servicio, el interruptor de emergencia no ha de estar necesariamente presionado. Para desbloquearlo se requiere un movimiento giratorio del interruptor. Cuidado: Para la desconexión regular del sistema se deben utilizar el interruptor de llave y el interruptor de la red. Presionando el interruptor de emergencia, la emisión de láser se detiene de inmediato. Una desconexión del sistema con el interruptor de emergencia representa un ”manejo erróneo” y debe evitarse. Si el interruptor de emergencia está presionado, antes del siguiente arranque del aparato debe ser desbloqueado mediante un movimiento giratorio.

Mit dem Schlüsselschalter an der Vorderseite des Gerätes wird das Gerät ein (Position ‚1‘) und ausgeschaltet (Position ‚0‘). Nach dem Einschalten des Gerätes sind alle Baugruppen betriebsbereit, der Laser ist jedoch noch nicht aktiviert. Um ihn zu aktivieren, muss der Schlüssel auf Start gedreht und danach losgelassen werden. Vorsicht: Lassen Sie den Laser niemals im aktivierten Zustand unbeaufsichtigt. Sichern Sie ihr Gerät immer gegen unbefugtes Bedienen, indem Sie den Schlüssel vom Schlüsselschalter abziehen.

The unit is switched on (position ‘1’) and off (position ‘0’) using the keyswitch on the front of the unit. Once the unit is switched on all assemblies are operational but the laser is not yet activated. To activate it, the key must be turned to Start and then released.

Caution: Never leave the unit unattended in activated condition. Secure the unit against unauthorized use by pulling the key from the keyswitch.

Vorsicht: Nutzen Sie den ESR (Enhanced Setting Range) niemals mit einer 230 μm Faser. Durch die Verwendung hoher Energien mit einer solch dünnen Faser kann die Einkoppeloptik des Lasers sowie die Faser zerstört werden. Hinweis: Diese Einstellungsmöglichkeit ist für einen Faserdurchmesser von 230 μm nicht zugelassen.

Caution: Never use the Enhanced Selection Range (ESR) with a 230 μm fiber! If you work with the high energies the laser offers in the ESR you may destroy the laser coupler and the fiber!

Advertencia: No utilice nunca el ESR (Enhanced Setting Range) con una fibra de 230 μm. La utilización de elevadas energías con una fibra tan delgada puede destruir tanto la óptica de modulación del láser como la fibra.

Note: This setting is not permitted for a fiber diameter of 230 μm.

Das Verfügen über technische Unterlagen zum Gerät stellt auch für technisch geschultes Personal keine Autorisierung durch den Hersteller zum Öffnen oder Reparieren des Gerätes dar. Ausgenommen sind im Text der vorliegenden Gebrauchsanweisung beschriebene Eingriffe.

On request, the manufacturer will provide those circuit diagrams, itemized parts listings, descriptions, sets of adjustment instructions, and other items of available documentation to suitably qualified user personnel duly authorized by the manufacturer for their use in repairing those components of the unit that have been designated by their respective manufacturers as repairable. Supply of such technical documentation relating to the unit shall not be construed as constituting manufacturer’s authorization of user’s personnel, regardless of their level of technical training, to open or repair the unit. Explicitly exempted herefrom are those maintenance and repair operations described in this manual.
