CAUTION: The UNIDRIVE® S III ARTHRO may only be used with accessories, and disposable items which have been designated for use by KARL STORZ. CAUTION: Do not store liquids on or above the device. Do not allow ƃuids to get into the unit. CAUTION: If the motor becomes blocked for any length of time, it can lead to overheating and cause damage to the motor. If the blockage cannot be disengaged using oscillating operation (if possible), the motor must be shut off and the blockage must be removed manually.

Place the UNIDRIVE® S III ARTHRO on a level surface. The UNIDRIVE® S III ARTHRO is equipped with a connector O for attaching a ground wire. The unit’s grounding should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Before connecting the UNIDRIVE® S III ARTHRO to the power supply line, verify that the line voltage stated on the unit’s identification plate conforms with that of the power supply lines to be used. Connect the power, insert the power cord end into the receptacle  of the unit. WARNING: Only insert the power plug into and remove it from electrical outlets located outside areas subject to explosion hazards.

CAUTION: The minimum suction position restricts or eliminates ƃuid movement. Operating the handpiece with minimal ƃuid movement can result in excess heat retention and damage to the unit.

Fehlermeldung E12 erscheint (»Kein Motor«), wenn weder ein Multifunktionshandstück noch ein Shaverhandstück angeschlossen ist. Then the shaver handpiece is active.  Currently set speed limit, i.e., the maximum number of revolutions currently possible. The speed limit of the currently active instrument is automatically recognized and displayed by the unit.  Increase/reduction of speed limit in increments dependent on instrument, e.g., 100 rpm for multifunction handpiece.  Display of speed range possible for the currently active instrument.

Um Materialschädigungen zu vermeiden, die Abschlussspülung mit mikrobiologisch einwandfreiem / sterilem Wasser durchführen. Abschließend mit medizinisch reiner Druckluft trocknen.

Disassembly for preparation/Manual cleaning and disinfection Shaver blades/burrs (attachments) Thoroughly rinse the instruments to remove all gross debris. Remove contaminants with brushes, sponges, soft cloths or a cotton applicator. Cleaning accessories are available from KARL STORZ (see catalog). Cleaning brushes must be cleaned and disinfected immediately. Remove the insert from the outer sheath of the shaver blade. Thoroughly clean the lumens of the reusable blades/burrs with a cleaning brush. The outer sheath as well as the insert of the shaver blade must then be rinsed out with a cleaning and disinfectant solution until no more residue can be seen. In order to avoid material damage, carry out the final flushing with microbiologically correct/ sterile water. Finally dry with filtered compressed air.

Apply a small amount of lubricant to the contact surfaces. 2. Insert the inner blade into the outer blade. 3. Turn the inner blade several times. 4. Dismantle the blades again.

Fraktioniertes Vorvakuumverfahren (Dampfsterilisation) Das fraktionierte Vorvakuumverfahren besteht ebenfalls aus den vier vorher bereits genannten Phasen. In der Konditionierphase wird bis zu viermal ein Vakuum erzeugt. Anschließend wird Dampf eingeblasen und bei 134 °C (+ 3 °C) in 5 Minuten (Mindestzeit) sterilisiert. Vor der letzten Trocknungsphase wird in der Evakuierphase der Dampf aus der Kammer entfernt. Die Trocknung findet im Vakuum statt.

Fractionated prevacuum method (steam sterilization) The fractionated prevacuum procedure also consists of the four previously mentioned phases. In the conditioning phase, a vacuum is generated up to four times. Steam is then blown in and sterilization takes place at 134°C (+ 3°C) 5 minutes (minimum time). Before the final drying phase, the steam is removed from the chamber during the evacuation phase. Drying takes place under vacuum.
